OXFORD’S biggest festival of physics and fantastic phenomena returns to the city today.
Stargazing Oxford 2019 will take over Oxford University’s physics department building on Keble Road from 2pm until late, bringing activities for the whole family.
TOMORROW
THE city will receive a blessing today as the principal leader of the Church of England pays a visit.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, will pop into Merton College in the evening to give a sermon at Choral Evensong.
MONDAY
OXFORD’S view of climate change, council tax reduction and a plan to trademark the city’s name are among the items on an eclectic agenda for the city council this evening.
After discussing a scheme to cut tax for some residents, councillors are due to hear a range of motions, including one from a Green Party member on the environment and another on Oxford University. Members of public are welcome at the meeting, at town hall from 5pm.
TUESDAY
THE council officer in charge of the enormous Access to Headington roadworks project is due to speak at a public meeting tonight.
The Headington ward focus meeting will be held at Headington Baptist Church Hall from 7pm.
WEDNESDAY
SHOPPING bags at the ready – Oxfordshire’s newest branch of Marks & Spencer is due to open today.
The store will fling wide its doors in Chipping Norton.
THURSDAY
THE Oxfordshire Plan 2050, a vision for the county’s future, is due to be discussed by South Oxfordshire District Council’s cabinet this evening.
Members of public can sit in on proceedings at 135 Eastern Avenue, Milton Park, from 6pm.
FRIDAY
ABINGDON residents are today due to get their first chance to try a new gin and cocktail bar today.
The Old Chemist bar is set to open, funnily enough, at the old chemist’s shop on High Street.

SATURDAY
CHINESE New Year will be marked in Oxford at a Kung Fu festival.
Kung Fu clubs from across the city will come together for you to try out different styles including mantis and tiger.
Visitors can meet instructors and practitioners and find out more information about each school.
The festival starts at 9am at Cowley Road Methodist Church in Oxford, and prices start at £6 for one class.
