THE fire service has thanked people for their patience during rush hour on Friday while they tackled a van blaze in Wantage town centre.
Crews from Wantage and Didcot were called to Ormond Road at 5.45am following reports of a van on fire with an LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) cylinder inside.

Firefighters used high-pressure hose reels to extinguish the flames and to cool the LPG cylinder. No one was hurt in the incident.
The blaze happened near the junction of Newbury Street and was causing long delays.
Firefighters directed traffic after briefly closing Ormond Road between the traffic lights at the crossroads and the junction of Chain Hill.

A statement from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We would like to thank the public for their patience whilst we dealt with this incident, and the traffic management system which had to be put in place during the busy rush hour period."
