SPORT in Chipping Norton will receive a welcome boost after contractors were appointed to install an all-weather pitch at the town's leisure centre.
The new sand-dressed pitch will replace the existing tarmac surface in an £85,000 project that will be completed by the summer.
West Oxfordshire District Council's cabinet approved the appointment of sports construction specialist S&C Slatter at a meeting on Wednesday.
Last year, cabinet members approved a £100,000 investment for the all-weather pitch, which will be sourced from section 106 developer funding generated by a residential scheme in the town.

The remaining funds will be used to buy new sports equipment.
A further £10,000 will go towards gym improvements, which will also receive £144,000 of funding from the council’s leisure facilities operator GLL Better.
Last September, the leisure centres at Chipping Norton and Witney were relaunched as part of a £10.3m boost to the district’s leisure facilities over the next 10 years.
