CHARITY Daybreak which runs dementia day clubs in Oxfordshire will get a funding boost after being named the Midcounties Co-operative partner charity.

The group announced Daybreak as one of its new charity partners for the coming two years and will fundraise, volunteers and raise awareness of the charity's work.

This includes a host of activities put on at Daybreak Lilacs Centre in Kidlington to support people with dementia and their families.

The group also runs dementia day clubs where members can take part in cognitive stimulation therapies such as music therapy to help unlock memories, and enable social interaction.

Daybreak has centres in Kidlington, Greater Leys, and North Oxford and provides help and support for people across Oxfordshire.

Daybreak fundraiser Laura Bristow said: “We are delighted to have been selected by the Midcounties Co-operative.

"With their support we hope to raise awareness of dementia across the region, to support staff in helping customers with dementia and, of course, to generate funds so we can continue to provide this much needed service to our community.”

Colin Webber, a Midcounties Co-operative regional community ambassador for Kidlington and North West Oxford, said: “The work that Daybreak does throughout Kidlington and North Oxford is remarkable, and we hope our partnership will enable them to do even more to support people with dementia, and their families.

“We’re committed to making a difference in the communities we serve, and I’ve no doubt our colleagues will embrace any fundraising and volunteering efforts over the next two years.”

The new charity partnership will be in place for the coming two years.
