GAS and water works are expected to cause lengthy disruption for drivers in the coming weeks.
This week will see several roadwork schemes commence across the county, necessitating temporary traffic lights.
SGN gas network was set to start work yesterday on Marcham Road, between Marcham and Abingdon, on a project that could span for almost 18 weeks.
Information logged on roadworks.org states the scheme could continue until Friday, May 17.
It involves laying 1,509 metres of new pipes and will require two-way temporary traffic lights.
In Grove, Thames Water was also due to start work yesterday along the A338 Station Road, near the Williams F1 roundabout.
The works will also require temporary traffic lights and could go on until Friday, January 18.
In Ferry Hinksey Road in West Oxford, SSEN electricity company started investigation yesterday to see if the location is suitable for installation of new cables.
Works could continue until Friday, January 18 and two-way traffic lights will be in place.
The road is used by thousands of workers to access Osney Mead industrial estate.
Meanwhile in South Oxfordshire, Hithercroft Road remains shut between South Moreton and Wallingford due to emergency gas works.
The works to fix a gas leak started on Friday but could continue until next Monday.
