A MOPED rider was seriously injured in a crash with a Royal Mail van. 

The postal van and blue Yamaha moped collided on Holywell Street in Oxford city centre on December 21, the Friday before last.

Appealing for witnesses today, Thames Valley Police said the collision happened at 12.35pm and resulted in the moped rider being taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The man, aged in his 20s, suffered a serious ankle injury but has since been discharged.

The van driver was not injured.

Investigating officer PC James Mahony, based in Bicester, said: "We are appealing for information following a serious collision in Oxford.

"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone with dash-cam footage."
