A CYCLIST was killed in a crash on the A40 in the early hours of this morning.
Thames Valley Police has confirmed that a 23-year-old man died in a collision on the Witney bypass today.
The man was riding a bike on the westbound carriageway at about 3.55am, near the junction with the A415, when he was involved in a crash with a white Renault articulated lorry.
He died at the scene and his next of kin are being supported by police family liaison officers.
The road was shut between Witney and Curbridge for several hours afterwards.
The lorry driver was not injured and no arrests have been made.
Investigating officer PC Julia Stroud, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based in Bicester, said: "Tragically a man died following a collision and we are investigating the circumstances.
"I would like to speak to anyone who was travelling on the A40 near Witney [today] at around time of the collision.
"If you believe you saw the lorry or cyclist, or have any dash-cam footage, please come forward."
