ONE of Oxford's oldest pubs will undergo further refurbishment work.
The Perch in Binsey will be shut for much of the start of 2019 to allow a new dining room extension to be built.
It follows an extensive renovation of the 17th century building, a favourite drinking spot of both Lewis Carroll and Inspector Morse, in 2015.
The Perch will close for initial building work at the start of the year before re-opening around February 21.
A further six weeks of work is expected to complete the dining room by the end of March 2019.
The new dining room will provide year-round space for 60 covers, replacing the existing temporary pergola.
Owner Jon Ellse said: "We've been overwhelmed with our customer's reaction to the work we've already undertaken to transform the Perch back into the country pub and restaurant that it should be. The Perch is a very special place and we’ve worked hard on the plans to ensure that the integrity of the building isn’t compromised."
