A SUSPECT has been released under investigation after a pedestrian was killed in a crash on the A34.

A 36-year-old man from Hungerford was fatally struck by a silver car near Oxford at about 2.15am yesterday.
The collision happened on the southbound road close to the Botley Interchange, and the man died at the scene.

Police arrested a 73-year-old man from Faringdon on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, of drink driving, and failing to stop after a road accident.
The force confirmed this afternoon that he has since been released under investigation.
Police said the pedestrian was 'in the carriageway' before he was hit.

Since the Policing and Crime Act 2017 came into force, most people arrested and interviewed are then released under investigation rather than on bail.
