UPDATE: Botley Road burst pipe still causing major delays
A BURST water main is causing major delays on Botley Road in both directions this evening.
Traffic is at a standstill on Botley Road and adjoining roads, with drivers telling the Mail they've been delayed for more than 30 minutes.
The water leak is near St Frideswide's Church and Thames Water have put temporary traffic lights in place while they work to fix the issue.
The leak is causing jams throughout the city centre, with traffic queueing on Thames Street and Abingdon Road as well Hythe Bridge Street and Worcester Street.
There are also delays coming out of Osney Mead Industrial Estate.
A Thames Water spokesman said: “We’re really sorry for the disruption being caused by our work to fix a leaking pipe, we have a team on site and have installed temporary traffic lights to allow us to carry out the repair safely.
“We’re working hard to get everything back to normal as soon as possible, and would like to thank people for their patience and understanding during this time.”
