OXFORD East MP Anneliese Dodds is backing an 'action plan' aiming to end plastic pollution by 2042.
Ms Dodds is supporting a Friends of the Earth Campaign which wants 'unneeded plastic' to be phased out immediately.
The plan, which campaigners hope will be underpinned by legislation, also aims to 'end pollution from hard-to-replace plastics - like car tyres, paints and clothes' as soon as possible.
Plastic has become an increasingly prominent issue in the city, with some businesses pledging to go plastic free.
