ANOTHER victim has come forward to say he was also deceived by the Headington door knocker - and this time he struck further afield.
During the latest incident on October 27, in what appears to be a string of similar offences, a man knocked on the door of a house in Cowley Road late at night saying he worked at Keble College and needed help because he had locked himself out of the house.
Police initially put out an alert asking people to call 999 if they see him.
He went on to explain that his mum had a spare key at her house and he needed to borrow some cash to get there and pick up the key.
The victim gave the man £30.
It comes after Thames Valley Police released details of a similar incident that happened in Headington on November 3.
The force urged residents to dial 999 if man knocks on their door and asks for money.
The victim, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Oxford Mail: “He was very convincing.
“I don’t think of myself as being vulnerable, I am fairly vigilant.”
The man goes by the name of James Stephens, and is described as a white man, about 40 years old and approximately 5ft 8.
He is thought to be of a medium build, with short dark brown hair and a short brown beard.
Thames Valley Police wrote in a statement, that if ‘someone fitting the description does call at your house, do not open the door’, instead, residents are urged to call the police on 999.
