From when stores first began allowing customers to pick their own groceries from the shelves to the dawn of the 24-hour superstore, Oxford’s supermarkets have seen a raft of changes over the years.
Long before the likes of Aldi and Lidl arrived of the scene, a handful of major players ruled the roost on the high street - alongside plenty of independent shopkeepers, of course.
