Frideswide Square is known to most drivers as a way in and out of Oxford city centre.
With Botley Road at one end, and Oxpens Road at the other leading to the Abingdon Road it's always going to be a busy route, and it's also the access point for the rail station, and is close to the station's long stay car park in Becket Street.
Hythe Bridge Street leads traffic towards Jericho or north Oxford.

But it's also a safe space for pedestrians as the vast majority of drivers slow up to let pedestrians cross the busy junction.
A major revamp in 1998 was followed by another in 2015, this time costing £6.7m and introducing roundabouts at each end.
The square is also home to a Sainsbury's store, the Royal Oxford Hotel, the Jam Factory, and a number of shops and restaurants.
