AN MP in southern Oxfordshire has singled out three developers in his constituency for stinging criticism.

Wantage's Ed Vaizey named Linden Homes; Kier Homes, in Shrivenham; and Miller Homes, in Drayton, a parliamentary debate on beauty and the built environment.

Singling out Linden for particular criticism, Mr Vaizey said the company was ‘probably the worst developer in my constituency - and its a pretty high bar’, claiming that it was building 'terrible' homes.

He labelled the build quality of all three developers 'shockingly bad' and continued: "Linden are building houses that are literally falling down."

The Conservative former culture minister has previous with Linden, after declaring himself 'appalled' by the problems faced by residents at Cholsey Meadows, near Wallingford.

A spokesperson at Linden Homes Chiltern commented: “We put great importance on ensuring all of our homes are built to high standards for the benefit of our customers. The comments which have been made regarding our Cholsey Meadows development are totally unfounded. We take pride in working closely with our customers to resolve isolated issues, all of which have been dealt with accordingly.

“Linden Homes is already investing and sourcing pre-fabricated elements with local supply chains and committed to minimising our carbon footprint. The suggestion therefore of importing or sourcing pre-fabricated elements from outside the UK is unwarranted.”

A Kier spokesperson said: “We aim to always provide the highest quality homes for our customers and over the past year we delivered over 2,000 new homes across the country, with nine out of ten customers nationwide stating they would recommend Kier Living to friends and family.

"At our Maple Grove development in Shrivenham we have fully engaged with any customers who have raised concerns with the aim of remedying their issues. To continually improve our customer experience, we have invested in a new customer care system and we will continue to review all aspects of our service.”

Miller Homes did not respond to a request for comment.
