THE first review by Oxford City Council of the city's historic core has been completed.
Eight weeks of public consultation on the Oxford Central Conservation Area - which covers many of the city's most famous buildings and landmarks - finished on Friday.
The appraisal, which the council admitted was long overdue, aimed to find out what residents think is most important for preservation and could also identify a site for redevelopment in the heart of Oxford.
The area was designated in 1971 but a comprehensive and holistic appraisal had not been undertaken in the meantime.
