THERE are many McDonald's restaurants across the county and others on their way as the new drive-thru nears completion in Bicester.
But which of the Oxfordshire branches do customer's rate and recommend, and which ones have prompted a call for others to steer clear?
We took to Tripadvisor to read customer reviews and find the best and worst rated in Oxfordshire (surprisngly, the Oxford city centre branch does not have a Tripadvisor rating).
1. Topping the list for top-rated McDonald's is the branch on London Road, in Headington.
Score: 3.5 out of 5
Percentages: Excellent 20%, Terrible 10%
One reviewer who rated the branch 'excellent' said: "The place was spotless. The cleanest McDonald's I've seen in ages! Well done to the staff."
Adding: "I decided to sit down and relax, watching the traffic pass by on the A40. My chips were not soggy at all, compared to my last McDonald's stop off on the M6, Cumbria earlier in the week."
2. Botley Road, Oxford
Score: 3.0 out of 5
Percentages: Excellent 17% Terrible 13%
Mixed reviews for the Botley Road branch but one reviewer said: "I've been to this McDonald's ALOT.
"If you come at times that aren't peak times, they're excellent. Very, very friendly staff, speedy service, accurate orders."
Another said: "Disgusting stale chips and a banana milkshake instead of the strawberry milkshake I ordered.
"The worst McDonald’s establishment. I have ever had the pleasure of visiting."
3. A4130 Milton Interchange, near Didcot
Score: 3.0 out of 5
Percentages: Excellent 13% Terrible 24%
One customer said the branch was 'distinctly average', adding: "McDonalds have done a lot of work to upgrade themselves in recent years, which means that they are still average. We knew what to expect and received it, so please don't read this review as a complaint. It just isn't special or anything.
The restaurant was clean and the special burger had a good taste."
4. Benson, near Wallingford
Score: 2.5 out of 5
Percentages: Excellent 8% Terrible 24%
One reviewer said: "Found a fly in the chips, was offered a free meal but really would you after that!?"
Another disagreed commenting: "The food came out very fast, it was hot and the cheese of the McMuffin was melted and not plasticy like other chains. Would recommend!"
5. Witney
Score: 2.5 out of 5
Percentages: Excellent 15% Terrible 34%
One intrepid reviewer said: "As always good food and a good choice. We were very pleased to see clean toilets after returning from Paris where every McDonald’s we visited had disgraceful toilets! Even tables were frequently left dirty.
"Suggest you send UK managers over to Paris to improve the standards of Health and Safety."
Another travelling customer said: "This review is from Japan. Around 8:30pm on Aug 8 we were driving to Burford from LHR, but accidentally A4 was blocked for road construction.
"I had no idea how can I get to Burford. At that time I've found the McDonald's at Witney in front of my car, and I 've asked to one of the man staff about another way to go Burford.
"He was very kind for writing a map for me instead of very busy time. Thanks to him I could get to Burford.
"I was so relieved, I couldn't forget her kindness. Thank you, thank you so much. Cheese burger was so tasty, too."
6. Colwell Drive, Abingdon
Scores: 2.5 out of 5
Percentages: Excellent 6% Terrible 31%
A mixed review from customers but one said: "Complete chaos when trying to order. Wife wanted vegetarian; big mistake as was totally inedible. The noise level around the is much too loud. Note to self remember never to go there again."
Another just titled his review 'Dreadful customer service here - drive on to Didcot or Botley for excellent service.'
7. Baynards Green, near Bicester
The McDonald's opened at the junction pictured, Baynard's Green roundabout, late last year.
Score: 2 out of 5
Percentages: Excellent 0% Terrible 50%
One reviewer said: "Stopped for a coffee as I had been stuck on A43 due to an accident.
"I found this to be a typical McDonalds, but the staff appeared unfriendly and the welcome was poor. It was suited me to stop here on the day, but I certainly will not go out of my way to return."
Another said: "Went to this McDonald's today to get my free coffee using my loyalty voucher only to be told that you have to pay 20p to have a large latte as a loyalty drink.
"Next time I will carry on and stop at Towcester instead. I suggest you do the same.
"I have never been charged extra for a large drink using a loyalty voucher at any other McDonald's anywhere in the south of England."
