A SCHOOL has credited a clever app for generating a cash injection of more than £1,000.
Botley Primary School near Oxford has gained £1,135 through sponsorship of its page on the app Classlist.
The app acts like a social network for individual schools and enables communication.
Friends of Botley School helped to find advertisers to sponsor their slot on the app, including Oxford businesses Ridgefield Consulting and Tao Beauty.
A portion of the sponsorship money goes directly back to the school, and last week staff and children received a cheque.
Oxford West and Abingdon MP Layla Moran, who is also a Botley School governor, said: "Classlist was set up to solve a real problem - if you can’t get to the school gate, it lets you see inside the school walls.
"It’s made a palpable difference to the school, the kids and the entire community."
The PTA's secretary Kate Randall added: "Our goal every year is to raise £5,000. The cheque relieves a lot of pressure - I can’t thank Classlist enough."
The app was founded three years ago by Clare Wright and Susan Burton, and more than 2,700 UK schools have since set up Classlist sites.
