A HOMELESS charity, that set up an online ‘wishlist’ for essentials have thanked Oxford Mail readers for the ‘overwhelming response’.
Last week the Oxford Mail reported on the wishlist, set up by Homeless Oxfordshire, using online retailer Amazon.
Using the Amazon Wishlist, the shelter Homeless Oxfordshire can choose what it wants, how many items it needs and how much they are needed.
Visitors to the list, which can be found on online retailer Amazon’s website, can then choose the product they’d like to buy for the charity.
The products are then sent to the charity directly.
Homeless Oxfordshire tweeted yesterday: “We were overwhelmed by the response – we unpacked so many donations this morning!
“Thankyou to everyone who donated, you’re amazing.”
It also wrote another post on the social media site, tagged alongside a picture of a duvet, some dishwasher tablets, shower-gel, plates and cutlery.
It said: “A massive thank you to readers of @TheOxfordMail for donating these essentials from our Amazon Wish List over the weekend. #HomelessNotHopeless”
The list also includes a phone, priced at £10 – because to receive Universal Credit it is now mandatory to have a phone number.
The most expensive item on the list is a pack of four pillows, at £19.90, and the cheapest is some winter gloves at £1.03.
