NEW STUDENTS and prospective pupils were given a look into the future both virtually and in reality at Bicester Technology Studio's open day.

People were invited along to the drop-in day on Sunday to have a look round one of Bicester's newest schools.

The school, in Queen's Avenue, opened in 2016 as a specialist technology site with an emphasis on working closely with local businesses for advice and experience of the working world.

A taster of what it would be like to study at the school was staged on Sunday with families invited along to drop in and have a tour of the school grounds.

Existing pupils and staff were on hand also to help out with question and talk about their time at the school.

A big part of the day was dedicated to technology also, including activities such as laser cutting, virtual reality and coding.

Visitors were able to try their hand at the various technologies and get to grips with some of the latest ways of working in schools.

Student Jamie Durow was among those giving demonstrations of the virtual reality headset, as just one example of equipment used at the technology-based school.

Bicester Technology Studio principal Richard Brown said: "We held our first open morning on Sunday.

"Students and staff proudly showed off the school, touring visitors around and getting to grips with Virtual Reality technology.

"Students really enjoyed the day and are pushing for this to become a regular event."

There will be another open day at the school on Wednesday, September 26, from 5.30pm to 7pm. To register see bicestertechstudio.org.uk
