A WITNEY student who considered dropping out of sixth form this time last year was celebrating exceptional A-Level results today.
Mollie Farr, of The Henry Box School, came close to quitting after getting AS-Level results of an A and two Cs 12 months ago.
She was all smiles after achieving A*s in Business and Sociology and a B in Psychology and will start at Nottingham Trent University next month.
Mollie said: “I thought maybe sixth form wasn’t for me and maybe the easiest option might be to go to college.
“But then I thought college wouldn’t really test me - I might as well do something that’s actually going to test me, so I pushed myself.”
Mollie’s story reflected a successful day for Henry Box, which has endured negative headlines recently over staff resignations and redundancies.
But the school celebrated its ‘best ever’ results, with 30 per cent of grades in the top two tiers.
Headteacher Wendy Hemmingsley said: “I would attribute this to focusing on quality of teaching, good support for students and highly-effective feedback and support from parents.”
Students at Witney’s Wood Green School were also in high spirits, with more than 90 per cent of entrants securing their university of choice.
