VIDEO of a man walking near the Abingdon park where a dog walker was stabbed last week has been released.
Police have put out the CCTV footage in hopes of tracking down the man, who they say may have 'vital information' about the seemingly random attack in Boxhill Park.
On Thursday at around 10:30am, a man described as being in his late teens approached a woman in the park and put his left hand over her mouth before stabbing her once in the stomach.
He then fled through the woods near Clifton Drive.
The victim, who is in her 50s, has since been discharged from the John Radcliffe hospital.
A 17-year-old boy from Abingdon was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but police confirmed on Monday he has been released without further action.
Police have also confirmed that area searches of the woodland have now been completed and a scene watch that was in place has now been lifted.
Investigating officer Detective Inspector Ali Driver, of Force CID based at Abingdon, said: “We continue to investigate the circumstances of this concerning incident and as such we are releasing CCTV footage of a man who we believe may have information that could assist our investigation.
“We would ask anyone with information to call 101 quoting reference 434 (19/7).
“We are aware that a man may have been walking his dog not far from the incident and we would ask that man to please call as he may have witness information.
“We are carrying out house to house enquiries today along Boxhill Walk and Lenthall Road, and we would ask residents to call if they believe they have information as well.
“Please call 101 or you can also report anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
