THE bomb disposal team were called to Wallingford yesterday after an unexploded 'Second World War grenade' was found by the river bank.
Police were called at 2.30pm after a member of the public spotted the explosive device and a cordon was put in place.

Christian Sinkinson, of the Wallingford-based photography studio More Than Images, took these images as events unfolded.
He said he understood the grenade had been pulled out of the river by a person magnet fishing.
Thames Valley Police spokesman Gareth Ford-Lloyd said the grenade was believed to date from Second World War and had been pulled out of the river.

When officers arrived it was located on a beach not far from Wallingford Bridge.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) carried out a controlled explosion safely and there was no danger to the wider public.
The cordon has now been lifted.
