TWO members of the Oxfordshire-based RAF Falcons parachute team were injured during a landing at an airshow in East Sussex.

One of the parachutists was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital and is thought to have broken both legs.

Another parachutist who received minor injuries was treated on site. No members of the public were hurt.

The RAF Falcons are based at RAF Brize Norton as part of the No 1 Parachute Training School.

The Falcons are renowned as the UK's premier military parachute display team and perform all over the world.

The incident yesterday happened on the fourth and final day of Eastbourne Airborne, which attracted 650,000 people flocking to the south coast seaside town.

There were dozens of displays including aerobatics from the Red Arrows and flypasts from World War Two planes such as the Spitfire and Hurricane.
