AN INDIAN-inspired restaurant which only opened in the Westgate Centre in November has shut for good.
Rola Wala was based in the Westgate Social – in the basement of the £440m shopping centre - until last week.
Readers have responded to say they often find the 'Social' relatively empty, despite the huge footfall figures reported at the Westgate.
Nine million people passed through the doors in the first six months.
But is the much-vaunted Social the culinary attraction that was promised? Have your say below.
The restaurant name means 'man that rolls' in Hindi serves up food inspired by founder Mark Wright's travels through India.
Rola Wala opened its Oxford restaurant on November 24 and opened with a special buy one get one free offer for its first week.
There were queues out of the door for the introductory offer, but in tweets, the company said it has not been able to ‘make the location work’ in the longer term.
The chain has other branches in London, Leeds and Birmingham.
Unfortunately last night we closed Rola Wala Oxford, not what we'd envisioned when we opened last year! We'd like to thank our customers, staff, and friends that made Rola Wala Oxford special...Good news - we are open as normal in London, Leeds, and Birmingham from 11am today! pic.twitter.com/rRGTPdJ2LX
