A TEENAGER has hit out at burglars who stole his motorcycle just three days after he received it as a birthday present.

Jack Dixon, 13, was left in tears after the thieves stole the scrambler-style bike, as well as a mini-moto bike, from his home in Greater Leys. Oxford.

Jack had not even got to ride the 110cc Black Mamba bike before it was taken from a garden shed early on Wednesday.

His mother, Sarah Shayler, was still trying to find out where he could use it legally when it was stolen.

She thinks the thieves would now be likely to cause a nuisance with the scrambler by setting it on fire on fields.

She said: "Jack wouldn't even stay downstairs on his own last night. He's 13 now and he feels so unsafe. The whole family is just gutted.

"It's not me or my husband they have got to. It is the lowest of the low."

Jack said: "I am pretty sad really. I have been into bikes all my life and I have been after a big bike for two or three years.

"I didn't even get a chance to ride it. If I'd ridden it a couple of times I would not be so upset. To be honest, when I came down and I saw it gone I started crying.

"I think they are sad. They cannot afford one of their own so they have to take someone else's. I don't see the point in that."

Mrs Shayler said she had an idea who had stolen the £200 bike, which had been given to Jack as a present from his uncle on Saturday.

She believes the burglars had known exactly which fence panels to target to get itto the garden.

They had carefully taken the shed door off of its hinges to get to the new bike and the six-month-old mini-motorbike, worth £100.

A moped left unlocked in the garden was untouched and the thieves even moved an empty paddling pool then put toys in it to stop it blowing away during the burglary, she said.

Mrs Shayler said she also wondered if the burglary was linked to the theft of a family friend's van in nearby Crowberry Road on the same evening.

A police spokesman confirmed the thefts and said no arrests had been made so far.
