OLYMPIC silver medallist and Oxford Brookes University alumna Olivia Carnegie-Brown has been named as Oxford’s ‘champion’ to lead the city’s rowers at the inaugural British rowing Power8 Sprints event next month.
Racing in eights over a 350m course on the Bristol docks, the women’s and men’s eights, selected from squads of 14, will compete with seven other English cities as the headline act of the Bristol Harbour Festival on Sunday, July 22.
Each of the cities has an Olympian as champion, mentor and spokesperson – with Carnegie-Brown elected to lead the Oxford team.
They have been designated brightly-coloured kit – with their crews to be clad in purple.
The other squad members will be announced and the crews revealed in the week leading up to the competition.
The event will be shown on BT Sport.
