A RECORD-BREAKING number of viewers tuned in to ITV2 for the new series of Love Island last night - and Oxford United's captain Curtis Nelson was likely to be among them.
The centre back has a particular interest in this year's show as his brother Wes Nelson was introduced to viewers as one of this year's contestants.
The show, now in its fourth series, brings a bunch of singletons together to live in the 'Love Island villa' for a number of weeks in the search for romance.
The launch episode which aired at 9pm yesterday racked in ITV's biggest overnight viewing figures since records began with a peak of 3.4million viewers.
Oxford United captain Curtis Nelson appeared to be one of those many millions watching and showed his support on Twitter.
The 25-year-old footballer retweeted a countdown to the moment his younger brother was introduced on air to the nation.
Wes Nelson, from Staffordshire, is the show's youngest contestant this series and is an electrical and nuclear systems design engineer.
Alongside his brother Curtis, his cousins are also Olympic sprinters Ashleigh and Alex Nelson.
In his Love Island bio he said: "I’m looking for someone I can settle down with and tame my wild lifestyle."
He added: "I’ve been raised in a family orientated household so values and respect are big parts of my life and I definitely implemented that in my relationships."
