PASSENGERS can keep a lookout for a brightly coloured new addition to the streets - a rainbow-coloured bus celebrating Oxford Pride.

The Oxford Bus Company has continued its campaign to brighten up city streets by unveiling an eye-catching new bus, backing the Oxford Pride group which helps to celebrate diversity across the city.

Decked out in Pride’s rainbow colours the dazzling City bus has been transformed to brighten up Oxford’s streets.

Bus 367, which serves Abingdon and other City routes, was branded with the new Oxford Pride livery and the slogan ‘proudly supporting Oxford Pride’. The Oxford Pride theme this year is ‘True Colours’, celebrating the diversity of the Oxfordshire community and aiming to raise awareness and inclusivity of all LGBT+ people.

The bus company has selected Oxford Pride as one of its chosen community and charity partners for 2018.

Oxford Pride videos have already been shown on 41 buses, reaching an average of 100,000 people per week.

Oxford Bus Company managing director Phil Southall said: “The bus looks fantastic and we are proud to back Oxford Pride as one of our chosen partners for the year.

“One of our core values is embracing diversity and it is this important every day philosophy that inspires us to support organisations like Oxford Pride.

“Oxford Pride is an important and growing organisation in our community and we are pleased the partnership is blossoming.

“The videos have been a great success, and this takes it to the next level.”

Hants & Dorset Trim carried out the repainting of the bus.

It follows the theme of the gradual introduction of a rainbow of different coloured liveries to 11 Oxford Bus Company services since 2015, resulting in a different colour bus for each service.

Oxford Pride 2018 will take place between May 25 and June 3.

The Pride Day itself featuring a parade will be held onSaturday, June 2.

The Pride festival will highlight 10 days of activities providing information, education and entertainment at numerous locations.

Oxford Pride chairman Paul McGinn said: “We’re overwhelmed by the fantastic support from Oxford Bus Company, which has such a wonderful sense of community.

“The partnership is helping us to reach so many people across Oxford and supports our key aim to help give people the confidence to be who they want to be and live their ‘True Colours’.

“We are so grateful to the Oxford Bus Company - the bus looks amazing and is a great way to share our message on a big scale.”

An Oxford Pride general meeting takes place at the town hall in St Aldates on Tuesday from 6pm.
