Hopes for better recycling facilities at Oakley Wood, near Wallingford, have been raised by South Oxfordshire District Council granting planning permission for an enlargement of the site.
A spokesman for Oxfordshire County Council said the decision would help make the site more user-friendly. The council is also negotiating to buy extra space from local landowner Noel Fox.
It means the present arrangements can continue and there will be an enlarged drop-off area to help the public. There will be new skips and a one-way system to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
At present, no timetable has been drawn up by the county council for the new facilities to be put in place.
