At one point the 16-year-old boy collided with a police vehicle. The moped is thought to have been stolen and a knife has also been recovered from a garden near the scene of the chase.
A boy was arrested on suspicion of stealing a motor vehicle and carrying an offensive weapon. Nobody was injured during the collision and there was only minor damage to the vehicles.
The youth was taken into custody, questioned by officers and released on police bail until Tuesday, August 21.
