DETERMINED new leadership has driven improvements an Oxford secondary school.
Ofsted has rated 1400-pupil Cheney School in Headington 'good', in a report released on Thursday following a visit in March.
It was the school's first Ofsted under the leadership of headteacher Rupert Moreton.
The head, who joined in September, said: "The children and young adults are a credit to the school and cannot be praised highly enough.
"I would like to thank our staff, parents, governors and students for all the support I have received in such a short period of time."
Addressing Mr Moreton, Ofsted's report said: "You and your new leadership team have revitalised your staff.
"Your drive and determination to improve the outcomes and well-being of your pupils is making a real difference.
"There is an organised, calm and positive ethos throughout the school."
The school's former head Jolie Kirby is now head of the Community School Alliance Trust, which is the multi-academy trust that runs Cheney and nearby Bayards Hill Primary School.
Mrs Kirby said the trust was 'delighted' by Cheney's Ofsted result.
She added: "The leadership team, staff and governors work with integrity, skill and determination to make sure Cheney School is a great community.
"Mr Moreton's highly visible and capable leadership is driving forward further improvements at real pace."
The school was last inspected in 2015, when it was also rated good.
