A MONTHLY Saturday market in Faringdon is to finish following reports of a decline in shoppers and traders.

It was announced this week that the Faringdon Town Team which has run the markets for the past four years had decided they were no longer financially viable.

The team, funded by Faringdon Town Council and Vale of White Horse District Council, said it would continue to support other events featuring market stalls.

The decision comes after the town council closed a disabled youth club and sacked three youth workers in February without any public consultation, sparking outrage from parents and carers.
