Sir - May I take a few lines to offer my congratulations to Rufus Burdett (Report, August 3) for enlivening the dreary and seemingly both endless and pointless TV flood reports.
It was noticeable that the reporter smiled at the time, but sadly retreated to making a silly pious statement later.
The involvement of the police was farcical and reveals a notable lack of common sense.
