Touring theatre and music comes to the village halls of rural Oxfordshire in a go-to-the-people programme called Full House.

The scheme is put together by West Oxfordshire District Council and kicks off in September with 13 different companies appearing at 18 villages over six months.

First up is off-the-cuff comedy and audience participation in Instant Wit from Bristol-based Barking Productions at Great Rollright on Saturday, September 22. Up to four performers and a musician will take the audience on a journey of improvised comedy based entirely around its suggestions.

Poetry, puppets, princesses and even a new piece of family theatre all feature in a programme put on in association with the Oxfordshire Community Touring Network and supported by Arts Council England.

Hilary Biles, the council's cabinet member for leisure and tourism said: "Full House aims to offer entertainment for people of all ages.

"It brings quality professional arts performances at affordable prices to local people."

Among forthcoming attractions are the Caliente Salsa Party Night featuring Lisa Anscombe, scheduled for Shipton-under-Wychwood on October 20 and Alvescot on March 1, and a new interpretation of Lewis Carroll's adventures of Alice from Trading Faces with masks, puppets and "silly poetry" at Bampton on October 24.
