The widow of a Bicester man killed in a car crash nearly two years ago is holding a family fun day in his memory.

Joanna Buddin, was five months pregnant with her third child, when husband Adam died in October 2005.

A former Lance Corporal in 23 Pioneer Regiment, based in Ambrosden, near Bicester, Mr Buddin died when his Audi caught fire after a collision with a Honda on the B430 at Weston-on-the-Green.

Mr Buddin served for more than nine years in the Army. He travelled all over the world, serving in Bosnia, Belize, Germany and Cyprus, before being posted to Bicester.

Mrs Buddin, 30, of Mulberry Drive, Bicester, has three children with Mr Buddin, Kayleigh, five, Ashley May, three, and Jaycob Adam, named after his late father, who is 18 months.

Mrs Buddin is hoping this year's event will raise money for the Oxford Children's Hospital.

She said: "Adam was such a big part of a lot of people's lives. It seems like it was only yesterday that we lost him.

"I can't believe he has gone, even though it is has been nearly two years now.

"Kayleigh was five last week and she still cries for her dad.

"For her birthday she said all she wanted was her dad. It's hard having to explain to them that he is not going to come back.

"It's still really difficult for me to accept and come to terms with. One minute they are there and the next they are gone."

Last year around £1,400 was raised for charity at a similar event, but it is hoped this year's fun day will be even bigger.

Mrs Buddin started a fund for the hospital in memory of her husband and because their daughter Ashley was treated at the Leopold Ward of Oxford's Radcliffe Infirmary.

She said: "I wanted to do something positive - something that I know Adam would be proud of me doing to keep his memory alive."

The event, which will take place on Saturday from 1pm onwards, at Lower Heyford Football Club, was organised last year by Mr Buddin's family and colleagues at Campsfield House detention centre, in Kidlington, where he worked as a training instructor.

This year's event, which is being organised by Mrs Buddin, will include a six-a-side football tournament, barbecue, bungee run, gladiator jousting, bouncy castle and stalls.

A trophy in the former soldier's memory will be awarded to the winning football team.

Mrs Buddin said: "I am still looking for teams to take part in the six-a-side tournament and would be grateful to anyone wishing to donate raffle prizes. I have spoken to a few companies who may also donate and I am just waiting to hear back from them.

"I would like to express my thanks to Lower Heyford Football Club for allowing me to hold this event for the second year at the club, for free."

People who want to donate prizes can call Mrs Buddin on 01869 240107.
