IT was the halo that did it.
In a week of extraordinary camera club photographs, all on the theme of 'purple', this humble scene shone out from the rest for its magical glow.
The flower – snapped at Rousham House and Gardens by Duncan Becker – is an ornamental garlic, but enhanced by just a little digital wizardry.
He explained: "It already had a slight halo (would love to say it was intentional!) but but I tweaked the saturation a little to accentuate the colour."
The effect and the gorgeous colour of the flower are offset perfectly by the vivid viridian background in soft focus.
The image is then finished off with the tiny honeybee, dwarfed by the flower, gathering nectar and pollen.
As a bonus, Mr Becker told us: "The gardens at Rousham are highly recommended." £25 on its way to you, sir.
