THIEVES have stolen up to 30 road signs in Oxfordshire and are believed to have used them for scrap metal.
The signs have been stolen from many areas in North Oxfordshire including Mixbury, Shutford, Epwell, Finmere, Deddington and Bicester over the past two weeks.
They include give-way signs, brown tourist information signs and dual carriageway signs.
Alan Collins, from the crime investigation management unit, said: "It is thought that the signs have been stolen for use as scrap metal.
"The signs are being replaced but the replacements signs will be made out of a non-recyclable material.
"Anyone with authority to work on the signs will be wearing high-visibility jackets and will be in an Oxfordshire Highways vehicle."
Anyone with information should contact police on 08458 505505 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
