TWENTY firefighters tackled a serious blaze at All Saints Church, Churchill, near Chipping Norton, on Saturday.
Nobody was hurt in the ground-floor blaze.
Incident commander John Nixon said: "It was only through the prompt actions of the crews that prevented the whole church being affected."
No one was hurt in the incident. The cause of the blaze is still being investigated, but a spokesman for Oxfordshire fire service said arson was not suspected.
