OXFORDSHIRE competitors are joining international rally drivers and co-drivers from 14 countries in the Baja GB 2007, round three of the FIA International Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, which starts in Builth Wells, mid-Wales, on Friday.

Leading an international contingent from Wales, Belgium, Northern Ireland, Russia, Italy, Holland, Spain, Qatar, the Czech Republic, England, Scotland, Australia, Slovakia and Poland into the punishing three-day forest event will be the former British Rally Champion, Alister McRae.

The Scot and co-driver Campbell Roy will debut the new McRae Enduro prototype as an official course car.

The National 'A' rally has attracted ten starters, with Oxfordshire's Henry Webster, Trevor Milner, Mike Moran, Dan Lofthouse and Glen McKeith taking part.

The 23-strong motorcycle category includes Oxford's Paul Howard, Gordon McPherson and Steve Holland and Abingdon's Lee Peck.

The event, a type of endurance loops in and out of a centralised service area and uses special off-road stages, totalling a minimum of 400km, reaches its conclusion in Builth Wells on Sunday.
