ROWERS from Abingdon gained two runners-up positions in the Quintin Head of the River event on London Tideway, writes John Wiggins.
Abingdon School lost by just half-a-second to Shiplake in the J18 eights.
They finished ahead of near-neighbours Radley College, whose two evenly-matched eights were six and 15 seconds respectively behind the Abingdon boat.
In the J16 event, fourth-placed Abingdon again had the upper hand over Radley, who finished ten seconds behind in sixth.
The Over 50s Masters E eight from Abingdon Rowing Club were second in their event, 11 seconds behind winners Upper Thames RC.
