DESPITE huge crowds and increased footfall in Oxford, the Westgate Centre has received mixed reviews from shoppers.
The £440m centre, which opened at the end of October, is rated 81 out of 185 'things to do' in Oxford.
It has a 3.5 star rating - out of five - after being reviewed by 72 people.
While many said it was a 'lovely shopping centre' and 'what Oxford has been waiting for', others were less complimentary.
One reviewer called it an 'ugly cathedral to consumerism' and another likened their experience to 'shopping in an aircraft hangar.'
The majority of negative reviews complained the centre was too cold - as it is mostly outdoors - but the Westgate management team responded and said: "We're sorry to see you didn't have a great time at the centre, but hope to see you in the summer months."
