OXFORD band Glass Animals have missed out on winning a Mercury Prize last night.
Soul singer Sampha was instead given the award for his album Process.
Glass Animals, who were nominated for their album 'How To Be A Human Being', were 14/1 outsiders on Wednesday night.
But a flurry of bets overnight saw them come down to 3/1 with some bookmakers yesterday.
The band accounted 45 per cent of all bets placed during the same period.
The Hyundai Mercury Prize promotes the best of UK and Irish music and the artists who produce it.
This is done through the celebration of the 12 ‘Albums of the Year’, recognising artistic achievement across a range of contemporary music genres.
Glass Animals rubbed shoulders with the likes of superstars Ed Sheeran and Stormzy on the shortlist for the album prize.
