A MUSIC producer is celebrating his success after securing a record deal from a national radio station.
Nick Nixon, from Cumnor, applied to a competition launched by Global radio several months ago and was 'amazed' to discover he will be able to produce his own track with industry professionals.
The 25-year-old said: "I thought it was a joke at first, I just couldn’t believe I’d been picked because I sent my song in in a rush and completely forgot about it.
"It's an original song about a girl I met who disappeared off into the middle of the night.
"I don't sing on it but I sat down at my piano and wrote it and produced it.
"I'm very proud of it and I hope that a lot of people will like it."
The Vodafone Future Breakers initiative, launched as part of the Vodafone Big Top 40 partnership with Global, will see Mr Nixon's song broadcast online.
Taking inspiration from the likes of Seeb, Griffin, Major Lazer and DJ Snake, he hopes this big break will be the stepping stone to something bigger.
He said: "It’s been a great opportunity to link up with professional producers and get feedback, but more importantly I’ve only shared the song with family and friends so it’ll be great to get it out there and get more people hearing it.
"It was great to work with the singer Tyler Shamy, from LA, who had the best voice for the track.
"I auditioned people from lots of locations, such as Austria and Norway, to get it right.
"It was difficult to find the perfect singer for it and I ended up auditioning lots of very talented singers but having to turn them away."
Talking of his future career, Mr Nixon said he hoped that one day he would be able to perform his own songs live.
"I'd like to write some more songs and get a full set going so that I could perform live to audiences as I'm not really into mixing other people's music when performing.
"So I think that's how I'd like to move my career forward."
