Campaigners were out in force at Chipping Norton yesterday campaigning for the restoration of a rubbiash tip.

Councillor Geoff Saul, Labour’s candidate in the Oxfordshire County Council elections on May 4 took part in the campaign drive on Saturday across the area.

He said: “It is a scandal that Dean Pit was closed by the Conservative controlled County Council without any replacement facility being established first.

“I am fighting for a new facility as one of my key priorities.

“In a survey of residents when I asked ‘what do you think Chippy needs most?’ 31 per cent of respondents told me Chipping Norton needed its own local refuse tip.”
