PLANS to convert a pub in Oxford’s Osney Island have been called in by city councillors.
It means proposals to change the Hollybush Inn, in Bridge Street, into two three-bed homes will have to be considered by a planning committee.
The scheme would also see a new four-bed house created on the site.
The change has been proposed by Krystian Volak, of VO Properties, and he is being represented by Adrian James Architects.
In documents submitted to Oxford City Council, the agents wrote: “Clearly the fact that the Hollybush is an old pub which once served the local community cannot be ignored, but it has been through several different ownerships in recent years and each one has failed to make it work.”
It argues there were ‘many good reasons’ to redevelop it, including the ‘desperate need’ for housing in Oxford.
The pub closed in 2013 and briefly reopened as a shisha lounge in 2015.
