Get on with it as soon as possible - was the reaction from the town council to plans to put a pedestrian crossing in Wantage Road, near Fir Tree School, Wallingford.
The county council proposals were the subject of an informal consultation with the town council.
Member Theresa Jordan said: "The sooner we get this crossing installed to get the children across the road safely, the better."
If money is available, the crossing could be in place by March next year.
The already busy road will have an influx of more vehicles on it as soon as two 80-home housing developments are completed on the Blue Mountains site and the former industrial estate in Station Road.
