Crowds of shoppers are expected to cram into Cornmarket Street and other shopping destinations today as heavy discounts are launched for Black Friday.
National chains will be taking part include the EE phone shop, Boots and Debenhams in Oxford.
Bicester village said it is 'not taking part' for the second year running.
Previous years had seen traffic chaos near the outlet centre and crowds crammed into shops and queuing outside.

Black Friday has become an increasingly popular retail event in Britain in recent years.
It began in the United States as shops reopen after Thanksgiving, which was celebrated yesterday, with a month to go until Christmas Day.
