A SNOWY scene crafted by an Oxford schoolgirl will grace supermarket shelves after she won a national competition.

Mantelpieces across the country could be decorated with a festive design dreamt up at Jemma Power's Headington home, after Lidl chose her creation for its charity Christmas cards.

The 11-year-old Wheatley Park pupil will see copies of her card go on sale this week to raise money for children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

Jemma's mum Jan Best said: "I saw the competition on Facebook and showed her - she couldn't wait to get started. She loves art and I thought the card was absolutely brilliant. She made it out of felt and it took her days and days. Her passion is art, she's always been interested in it and she just puts her heart and soul into it.

"She's so excited about it, she's so happy especially because of the charity."

The cards continue Jemma's keenness to support cancer charities after her great granddad died of the disease five years ago, sparking her to organise cake sales for Cancer Research and Macmillan.

Her mum added: "Jemma was like a little mother hen when we visited him. It was the first person she came to know that died, so it really hurt her.

"I'm very proud of her, especially with the charity work. I know a lot of her friends are just not interested in taking the time out to do those things."

Packs of cards will hit shelves across the UK on Thursday and will feature Jemma's designs alongside one other winner's.
