A Brookes University bus was left badly damaged after a collision with a road surfacing vehicle in Cowley.
The U5 suffered bad damage to its upper deck following the crash which left students 'in shock'.
Oxford Bus Company - which operates the bus - said it was "fortunate" no one was injured and has launched a full investigation to the incident in Hollow Way just after 11am.
Mature student Andrew Parker, who was on the bus at the time, said: "I just heard a huge crash coming from the top deck and I thought we had hit something.
"No one was hurt but a couple of the students were in shock.
"How nobody was seriously injured is beyond me - it was very lucky escape."
Oxford Bus Company commericial manager said: "One of our Brookes Bus vehicles was involved in a collision with a road maintenance vehicle on Hollow Way shortly after 11am this morning.
"The incident occurred at low speed and fortunately no injuries were reported.
"The vehicle was immediately removed from service, and we are now conducting a full investigation into the incident."
